Configuring Plasmamail

From PlasmaWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

You can get your e-mail going to @plasmagicians.com from normal clients. Your username will be your full e-mail. Either IMAP or POP3 should work, but you must use SSL. Our SSL certificate is not (and may never be) validated, so you will have to just accept it once and hope that someone doesn't constantly spoof you for the rest of your natural life to find out what sort of covert e-mails you are sending.

Here is a handy list of the server names:

IMAP server: plasmagicians.com
POP3 server: plasmagicians.com
SMTP server: plasmagicians.com

In case you don't like this, we have configured every subdomain to go to the same server. Therefore, you can use:

IMAP server: imap.plasmagicians.com
POP3 server: goestheweasel.plasmagicians.com
SMTP server: cake.plasmagicians.com

And nobody will ever notice your cleverness, not even your mother.

[edit] Configuring Folders

In Mail.app, at least (so probably with other clients), there is a box for "IMAP Path Prefix" in the Advanced tab under accounts. You may need to change this to "INBOX". This is actually a configuration problem with the server, but it may not be fixed for a while, so this is a workaround.

[edit] Configuring Spam Filter

Spam filtering still broken, more to come once it is fixed.
